Having
exhausted all there is to do in Geelong, take a day trip down the Bellarine Peninsular
and visit a completely different
world. Return to the HYATT APARTMENTS
for a restful night before setting off the next day.
Another
easy day visit is the Surf Coast, just 20 minutes down the
Surf Coast Highway you’ll find the best waves Victoria has
to offer. If you are visiting over
Easter
catch the World Championship Series Surfing Classic at Bell’s Beach. All year
round the whole of the Surf Coast lives and breathes surfing,
there’s even a museum dedicated to the sport. Return to the
HYATT APARTMENTS for a shower and then perhaps, a home cooked meal before a
night out on the town.
The
Great Ocean Road is a must. Tour this scenic route and take in the
spectacular views with the
knowledge that you will be able to recuperate from
an exhilarating day at the HYATT APARTMENTS
that night.

Ballarat
is only an hour away and a trip to Sovereign Hill is an
excit
ing
day for both the young and the grown ups. The quick trip home gives
you plenty of time for a night at
the movies or whatever may appeal to you.
Melbourne,
the capital of Victoria, is also only one hour down the road, but if you don’t wish to drive in the City the perfect alternative is to go by
train, this excellent
service delivers you to the heart of the city where you can spend
your time exploring the shops, the entertainment venues or just looking around
Melbourne’s many Parks and Gardens. The Geelong South Railway Station is a
short walk from the HYATT APARTMENTS.

Stop
at Lara on the way to Melbourne it’s only about 10 minutes out of Geelong and
it’s the home of Serendip Sanctuary. Over 140 native animals and
birds live at Serendip with the wetlands birds being especially popular. Bird
hides extend out into the water so visitors to Serendip get the best views of
all the action.
Beyond the
You Yangs Mountains, still heading
towards Melbourne, you will find the open plains of the
Werribee
Zoo. From the safety of a
Safari
Bus you’ll see animals from the grasslands
of Australia, Africa and Asia. There are no bars
between the animals and the visitors; it’s the humans that are confined. The Zoo
covers 150 hectares of pasture set along the
Werribee River and it is
open every day of the year.
The Hinterland to the north and west of
Geelong are known as the Golden Plains, for 150 years they been part of our
great farming tradition, look across the plains
and
through the vineyards. This area has been producing award winning wines for over 30 years, call in for a
wine tasting and then take home your favourite “red” or “white”. Then give the
kids a real surprise and stop at
Anakie;
Fairy Park is a fantasy playground for
children aged 2 to 92 years. It has a delightful hillside complex of fairy tale
and fantasy scenes in miniature castles, caves and rocks.
